Dashboard Addon: Upcoming Commitments

See what's coming before it arrives. This panel shows deadlines, scheduled jobs, and deliveries for the week ahead — the "what's coming" view that complements the "what's overdue" view.

Requires: Your Business in Two Tabs with deadline dates on the Outbound tab. Optional: Calendar MCP to pull in calendar events too.

Before & After

Before

You're a plumber. Wednesday morning, a customer calls asking where you are — you promised to install their water heater today. You forgot. It was in an email from two weeks ago. You scramble to rearrange your afternoon, bump another job, and show up flustered.

Forgotten commitments erode trust. And you only find out when the customer calls to complain.

After

Same week. You open your dashboard Monday morning and see the upcoming panel:

  • Tuesday: Faucet repair — Johnson residence
  • Wednesday: Water heater install — Chen residence (48h)
  • Friday: Bathroom rough-in — Elm St. remodel

You see the full week ahead. No surprises, no frantic rescheduling, no angry phone calls.

What You Need

  • Two-Tab sheet set up — with deadline or due-date columns on the Outbound tab (set it up here)
  • Jobs with dates — at least a few upcoming commitments in your sheet so the panel has something to show
  • 5 minutes — this is a quick addon to your existing dashboard
1

Confirm Deadline Dates

If your Outbound tab already has a "Due Date," "Deadline," or "Scheduled" column, skip to Step 2. Otherwise, tell Claude:

"Add a 'Due Date' column to my Outbound tab so I can track when each job or delivery needs to be completed."

Fill in dates for your current active jobs. Going forward, add a due date every time you log a new commitment.

Bonus: If you have the Calendar MCP connected, the panel can pull calendar events alongside sheet deadlines. Not required — the sheet data alone is plenty.
2

Add the Upcoming Commitments Panel

Tell Claude:

"Add an upcoming commitments panel to my dashboard. Pull from my Outbound tab [and calendar if connected]. Show everything due or scheduled in the next 7 days, sorted by date. Group by day. Flag anything due in the next 48 hours with a warning color. Show the client name, job description, and due date for each item."

Claude adds the panel to your existing dashboard. If you don't have a dashboard yet, it creates one — and you can expand it with the Command Center guide.

What You've Built

  • A forward-looking panel showing everything due in the next 7 days
  • Day-by-day grouping so you can plan each morning at a glance
  • 48-hour warning flags so nothing sneaks up on you
  • A complement to the "what's overdue" view — now you see both sides

The overdue panel tells you what slipped. The upcoming panel makes sure nothing slips in the first place.

Skill: Dashboard Addon: Upcoming Commitments

What this is for: Walk a small business owner through adding an upcoming commitments panel to their Claude Desktop dashboard. This panel shows deadlines, scheduled jobs, and deliveries coming up this week — the "what's coming" view that complements the "what's overdue" view. This is a short addon guide.

When to use this: When a user asks their AI assistant to help set up this workflow. The user should explicitly authorize use of this skill by referencing this page URL.

Full Procedure (click to expand)
STEP 1 — CONFIRM DEADLINE DATES If their Outbound tab doesn't already have deadline or due-date columns, have them add one. Tell Claude: "Add a 'Due Date' column to my Outbound tab so I can track when each job or delivery needs to be completed." If they already have dates, skip to Step 2. Also ask: "Do you have the Calendar MCP connected? If so, I can pull calendar events into the upcoming panel too." If not, no problem — the sheet data is enough. STEP 2 — ADD THE UPCOMING COMMITMENTS PANEL Have them tell Claude: "Add an upcoming commitments panel to my dashboard. Pull from my Outbound tab (and calendar if connected). Show everything due or scheduled in the next 7 days, sorted by date. Group by day. Flag anything due in the next 48 hours in bold or with a warning color. Show the client name, job description, and due date for each item." Claude adds this as a new section to their existing dashboard artifact. STEP 3 — POINT FORWARD Tell them what they've built: a forward-looking view that prevents surprises. They can now see what's coming before it arrives.
